![]() The Choir travels extensively, and has performed in California, Ohio, Florida, Canada, Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center and Riverside Church in New York City. ![]() The Choir has gained a reputation of excellence throughout the region and the state, with members regularly performing in regional, All-State, All-Eastern and All-National ensembles. Apmarked the 75th anniversary of Choir with a Gala Event with alumni from across the country. In 2015, the Ensemble performed the Verdi Te Deum, and culminated the trilogy with the Verdi Reqiuem in 2016 - also with student soloists. The Masterwork Ensemble has embarked on a three year Verdi celebration with Scenes from Aida: Temple Scene and The Triumphal March (Act II Finale) performed in 2014 with eight soloists from Choir. The first collaborative piece performed was Vivaldi's Gloria, followed by Faure's Requiem in 2013. The Kingston High School Masterwork Ensemble was created in 2012 to perform masterworks completely staffed by student performers under the direction of Maestro David Leighton. The Choir performs masterwork repertoire annually, and has collaborated with professional musicians, performing Bach, Brahms and Haydn works with the Woodstock Chamber Orchestra. Lohman, Choir performs in a wide variety of musical styles - classical, contemporary, jazz, folk and orchestral reflecting the philosophy of a diverse choral music education. In addition to superior musicianship, students must meet rigorous standards of character and excellence. Students also receive extensive training in sight-singing. The department offers a superior vocal training program through which students can complete a three-year sequence culminating in a full length recital. All students selected for Choir have studied voice through the KHS vocal department, and many study privately. ![]() The KHS Choir was formed in 1941 to provide study and performance of the most demanding choral literature. is a select performing organization that is comprised of 73 singers who perform the most demanding choral repertoire.
